Hey guys and welcome back to the Medical Entrepreneur podcast.
My name is Adam Sewell, and this is where we teach you how to break free from traditional medicine, carve the career of your dreams, and still do what you love.
Being underpaid and overworked is the standard in healthcare. In the mainstream medical system, health workers do all of the work but get just a fraction of the pay. But it doesn’t have to be like that. There is a way for you to profit from your own efforts and labor. And today, I’m going to explain step-by-step exactly how.
If you want to free yourself from the broken system, all you have to do is follow my med spa blueprint and start your own medical aesthetics business. This may seem very overwhelming, but trust me, it’s not complicated at all. So without further ado, let’s get right into it!
Step 1: Open Your Own Company
The first thing you need to do is open your own company. This is the step people are most afraid of, but in reality, it’s one of the simplest, and you will easily manage to do it all by yourself. In most states, all you have to do to open a company is to file a form with the state and pay a small fee depending on which state you’re in.
If you don’t feel comfortable doing this by yourself, you can also hire a company that will do this for you. In addition to your state’s fee for opening a company, this can cost anywhere from $49 to $150. But the company you decide to hire can do everything for you, they can even get you your EIN number and everything else you need. So you can have your company up and running for less than $500.
Choose the Right Structure for Your Company
When opening a company you also need to choose the proper structure for your company. Depending on your need the proper structure for you might be a Limited Liability Company (LLC), a Professional Limited Liability Company (PLLC), or a Sole Proprietorship.
For most med spas, the best option is an LLC. LLCs provide liability protection. This means that all of your personal assets are protected in case anything happens to your company. LLCs also offer flexibility in terms of management and tax treatment.
Step 2: Start Building Your Digital Presence
At this point, it may seem way too soon to start building your digital presence and working on marketing but trust me, the sooner you start, the better.
One thing you can do is build an education system, which will provide valuable information to your potential clients. This will build trust and embed your name (or the name of your company) in their minds. Once they decide they want or need a certain treatment, you will be on top of their heads and they will choose you over your competitors.
You can build an educational system on your social media accounts, a website, a blog, or even through a podcast. The most important thing is to provide value and address your potential clients.
You Have a Company and a Strong Digital Presence, Now What?
The next steps you need to take are:
- finding a medical director,
- establishing a strong business relationship with your medical director,
- mastering your skills through training,
- getting to work and
- promoting your practice.
I go into great detail about these 5 steps in episode 36 of the Medical Entrepreneur podcast. And I also provide some resources to help you get started!
